Mr Racoon was bought 8-weeks-old as a family pet and left to roam in the house. The Racoon bit the two children and the father and would run after the mother to grab and scratch her legs. He would be aggressive if they tried to handle him or move him off work tops, from food and from the fridge. After much damage to their house, multiple bites and The Racoon being shoved, prodded and hit he was eventually migrated to a small metal crate in a dark unheated garage and left there. They got so scared of him they threw food through the cage and the water container was rarely cleaned as they topped it up from the outside. I found him smelly, walking in circles, thin, dirty and wet. His life was horrendous.
He is now a happy easy-going boy enriched and healthy with his own kind. I no longer need to wear bite proof gloves and leg pads to go into his enclosure.
