Before we focused our energy on wild animals, we took in six donkeys.
One donkey was kept alone in a stable. They are herd animals that form strong bonds with another donkey, so being alone was bad enough. On top of this the donkey could not see out of his prison, was living on deep rotted mouldy straw and his whole body was covered in sores. When he arrived at WildSide the vet sedated him so we could attend to his sores. We call him Blue as he spent the first days here covered in blue Terremycin, a great antibiotic spray.
Blue is still here living out the rest of his days with five other donkeys and is in a bonded pair with Donkey Pip. All his hair has grown back and he is healthy and happy. He has huge fields to roam in and constant access to large indoor areas. He stresses in small spaces so these are avoided.
