- Member of the Racoon family
- Search for food on the ground, and in the forest canopy, using their flexible nose to poke into crevices and rocks
- A group is called a band
- live in groups of up to 30 which are usually related females and their young.
- Kits are protected by both the mother and the other female members of the band until they are weaned
- Adult males are thought to be solitary
- Have double-jointed ankles in order to help them climb trees, along with strong claws to excavate prey from logs and burrows
Diet
Omnivorous, typically eating fruit and invertebrates. Diet may include frogs, lizards, small mammals, or birds and their eggs.
